Color Displays

Medical color LCDs are becoming a primary viewing medium for large and small matrix studies. Their ability to display color and emit high brightness with excellent spatial resolution are an improvement to CRT-based technology.

Color LCD panels also provide advantages that Grayscale displays cannot, including:

• Digital versus analog signaling
• Brightness stability over extend periods of time
• Improved luminance uniformity

Most PACS systems use a 19-20" color LCD as a navigation panel or operating console. These 1MP or 2MP displays offer native resolutions ranging from 1280 x 1024 to 1200 x 1600. Some systems use a color LCD with higher resolution (1536 x 2048) as the primary means for displaying 3D images.

2MP

Affordability, adequate resolution (1600 x 1200), and high brightness (500 cd/m2) make 2 Mega-Pixel color displays an option to their 3MP counterparts. These LCDs are perfect for ER and trauma settings, and are also well suited to orthopedics, neurology, and cardiology applications.

With low-resolution (1280 x 1024) and high brightness, 1 Mega-Pixel color LCDs are primarily used as navigation panels for clinical review. They can be wall mounted and are also widely used in surgical suites.
